ASSR is a small primary school hidden in the rural village of Old Heathfield. It is easily accessible from the nearby towns of both Heathfield and Hailsham.

The Victorian listed frontage of the building screens the modern, spacious classrooms that sit behind this; a lovely mix of old and new. The school has four well resourced classrooms with an interactive whiteboard, access to computers and vibrant displays.

The children learn in spacious mixed age classes, with teacher and teaching assistant support. As a small school we get to know each child as an individual therefore strengths are built upon and weaknesses supported.

The school has a cosy, well stocked library with a wide selection of books that children can curl up and read. The small group room, decorated with murals of the seasons, is a welcoming and safe space for children who are having additional support to extend and support their learning. The Nest is the home for our Early Birds Club that starts at 8:00 am each morning to support those parents that need an early school drop off. Children play and have fun before having a snack and glass of milk. The large playground and school field have stunning views of the local countryside and when the sun is shining the sea can be seen shimmering on the horizon. We make the most of our beautiful setting with weekly outdoor learning inspired by the changing seasons.

Children can have a fresh cooked meal each day prepared in our cooking kitchen and served in the spacious school hall.
