Welcome to our Reception Class homepage.
We passionately believe that it is vital to get children off to a good start in their school life and to this end we aim to provide an outstanding environment and learning context for the children in their first year at school. We recognise that “Development can only take place when children are actively involved, when they are occupied with a high, non-stop degree of concentration, when they are interested, when they give themselves completely, when they use all their abilities to invent and make new things and when this gives them a high degree of satisfaction and pleasure” Ferre Laevers.
We have a lovely teaching assistant, Mrs Alger, with the children receiving specialist PE teaching on a Monday and have a series of Forest School lessons during Spring. We benefit from having strong links with both our churches, All Saints’ and St Richard’s, and our children are educated within a Christian ethos.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage learning is promoted through both adult directed and child-initiated activities. We aim to support all children in developing their personality, talents and abilities. We actively promote equal opportunities for all children in an inclusive setting. The values of kindness, respect and tolerance underpin everything which we do and consistent adult modelling supports the children to value each other, the learning environment and the equipment which they use.
